{Create} The MotherLOAD week 1

Big Picture ClassesOne of the classes I’m participating in at the moment is Lain Ehmann’s “The MotherLOAD” over at Big Picture Classes. We’ve been in class since 29th June undergoing basic training for our scrap marathon (a LayOut A Day for 26 days) which started on the 1st Sep. For this LOAD I am doing a mix of digital and traditional scrapbooking, depending on my mood and whether or not I’ve had the photo’s printed ;)

Here are my first 7 layouts (apologies for blocked out photos but DH and Grace have requested their faces not be shown here) :

Day 1 – Thoughtful Thursday and the task was to scrapbook a goal. For this I went digi and scrapped about cleaning out the pantry.

MotherLOAD 1Supplies:
DigiKit by Vinnie Pearce – Peach Hill
Template by Studio Basic Designs – In One Word: LOVE

Day 2 – Free-for-All Friday the challenge today was to scrap the last time we REALLY laughed. The last time I laughed was when I watched Big Babies (you have to see it part 1+2 to understand). The photo is of Grace looking at a photo of herself when she was a babe.

MotherLOAD2Supplies:
White Cardstock
Patterned Paper & stickers by Sassafras Lass – Nerdy Bird Collection
Alphas by Sassafras Lass – Indy Girl Collection Glittered Pink
Flowers by Sassafras Lass – In a Stitch Pink
Ink by Versa Color – Canary

Day 3 – Snack Saturday – where we use “snack bags” of embellishments etc that we’d made up as part of basic training (kinda like a mini-kit). All we had to do was grab that bag, some paper and scrap away.

ML3 for blogSupplies:
White Cardstock
Patterned Paper by Basic Grey – Hopscotch Collection
Chipboard Shapes by Basic Grey – Hopscotch Collection
Alphas by Basic Grey – Hopscotch Collection
Lace Trim by Scrap Matrix – German Scrap Paper Laces
Ink by Tim Holtz – Distress Ink Tattered Rose
Journal Tag by Elle’s Studio
Ribbon by Making Memories – Vintage Findings

Day 4 – Simple Sunday – We had to scrap using our minimum requirements. I generally prefer to use white cardstock always 12×12, patterned paper, ink edges, alpha stickers, a journal spot, and some embellies – brads, butterflies, or stickers.

ML4 for blogSupplies:
White Cardstock
Colored Cardstock
Patterned Paper by Sassafras Lass – Indie Girl Collection
Alphas by Sassafras Lass – Paper Crush Collection Blue Linen
Journal Tag ’1′ by Sassafras Lass – Paper Whimsies Tailored Deck
Journal Sticker by Sassafras Lass – Indie Girl Collection
Ink by American Crafts – Powder
Owl Sticker
Brads

Day 5 – Mother May I Monday – A day to be a rebel and try something outside of our minimum requirements from yesterday. I did my first ever 8.5 x 11 layout! And I also used hobby dots for the first time….they’ve been siting in my stash for months.

ML5 for blogSupplies:
White Cardstock
Colored Cardstock
Patterned Paper by American Crafts – Spring Cheerful Cherry, and scraps
Hobby Dots
Ink by American Crafts – Charcoal
Stamps by Ali Edwards – This One

Day 6 – Take a Picture Tuesday. Create a layout using a photo we had to take in basic training. Today’s photo was a self portrait. Since it’s not printed I did a digital layout, and since it was a self portrait I decided to list my typical day.

MotherLOAD6Supplies:
Inspired by Ella Publishing’s List It.
Digi template by Vinnie Pearce – Journey Back Templates
Digi Kit by Vinnie Pearce – Reno Collection
Staples by Anna Aspnes – Art Play Find My Way

Day 7 – Way Back Wednesday. This was difficult as I only began scrapping last year. Today we had to go back in time and scrap using some trends from 1999. The trends I used were to pick out the color from the photos, add matting behind the sports photo, cut out the school emblem from a photo (I preferred to do that here rather than cut around Grace’s head), and added a few stickers. I’ve finally got her first day of school scrapped from 2003.

ML7 for blogSupplies:
White Cardstock
Colored Cardstock
Patterned Paper by Sassafras Lass – Nerdy Bird Collection
Alphas by Sassafras Lass – Yellow Paper (colored with Copic marker 110)
Stickers & Journal Sticker by Sassafras Lass – Nerdy Bird Collection
Flower by Sassafras Lass – Entwined Blooms Rosey

Phew! I wonder what’s in store for week 2!
