F is for Fitness

The lovely Lottie has set another challenge for her Finishing School. F is for Fitness *\o/* ! The challenge for this week is to:
  • walk or do some form of exercise for 30 minutes a day.  This can be as easy as walking the kids to the park or walking to work and back or as intense as swimming 100 lengths, whatever takes your fancy and is dooable.
As you would know this is a big F that I’ve been trying to work on for over 12 weeks now. Just see my weekly The F Word posts to track my progress. Like most people I can think of better things to do than exercising however I must admit that spending just 30 minutes a day doing SOMETHING always makes me feel better. I love going to the gym. It is my time out of the house doing something for ME. The only trouble is I usually have to rush back to cook dinner!

Below is what I plan to do each week.
Mon, Wed, Fri – Cardio
  • This can be in the form of interval training on the bike or treadmill at the gym (I hate the cross trainer so I refuse to use it even though it would probably be the most beneficial).
  • Last week I started doing C25K, completing all three days. I actually ran! And it got easier each day.
  • If I can’t make it to the gym I get on our treadmill in the garage.
  • On days when I go into the office I walk to and from the station …briskly, especially when running late… which is 20 minutes each way.
Tue, Thur – Weights
  • I use the weights circuit at the gym for my strength training. It gives an all over muscle workout.
Sat – Rest day or make up day
  • Don’t forget incidental exercise… vacuuming, mopping, gardening, shopping :)
Sun – We’ll be starting to play tennis this week as part of Family Fun Day.
In the near future I want to learn how to play golf so that my husband and I can spend time together enjoying a common activity. (I’ve already hinted at golf clubs for Christmas). He loves golf but never gets the time to play.  Time to make time!
I see this as just the start… As my fitness improves I plan on doing even more activities.
And as a treat for doing all that exercise we can treat ourselves with a bit of G is for Glamour!

F is for Fitness. What did you think it was?

Welcome to my fitness diary. I’m making a few small changes as work is impacting my schedule. I will try to post a fitness update on Saturday’s now. This will leave the rest of the week for more interesting pieces…hopefully. 

What are my goals? 
Mon, Wed, Fri – Cardio …. I have started Week1 of C25K
Tue, Thur – Weights …. I didn’t get to the gym this week. Will be back next week
Sat – Rest day or make up day … today I did cardio
Sun – We’ll be starting to play tennis next week

Drink my water every day – get an A:
Overall – B

Be mindful of the food I eat, have small regular meals:
(Cyndi O’Meara is a nutritionist who just made perfect sense. I have completed her “21 Day Weight Loss GET HEALTHY program” with great results. I am now working through Cyndi’s Changing Habits program.) I had one day this week when I worked late and couldn’t be bothered making dinner so I ordered pizza. This was a BIG MISTAKE! I felt so sick that night and next day. I was bloated and lethargic. I can really see now how my change in diet has made me feel so much better with a lot more energy. No more pizza…. unless it’s homemade with organic ingredients.

First mini goal is to get under 80kg… after that I’ll set 5 kg mini goals 
Start weight 81.1
Last week’s weight 77.2
Current Weight 77.0   -200g I would love to see the big losses come back again
Overall Weight Loss 4.1kg (just over 9 pounds)

1st mini goal < 80kg : 03-Aug-10
2nd mini goal 75kg

Why am I doing this?
I want to be fit and healthy so I can enjoy life
I want to set a positive example for my daughter 
oh yeah… I have a beach wedding later in the year to go to (Argh!!) so I want to feel comfortable with myself at the resort.  EDIT : Who cares what others think?

I want to get a new wardrobe but not in my current size. EDIT : A new wardrobe would still be nice.

I’m having a mid-life crisis
I would like my family to eat more natural foods for their health too – this is a hard one that they’re not buying into too easily. The way I’m working around it is by refusing to by any rubbish if I’m doing the grocery shopping. Unfortunately they will go and buy it themselves.

F is for Fitness. What did you think it was?

What are my goals? 
I didn’t make it to the Gym the last couple of days. Today I reviewed my schedule as I’ll be spending more time in the office. When I go into the office there’s an extra 20mins walk to the station added to the day’s routines.
Mon, Wed, Fri – Cardio
Tue, Thur – Weights
Sat – Rest day
Sun – We’ll be starting to play tennis in 2 weeks
