Move More, Eat Well 2012

One of the year long classes (or life long – depending on how you look at it) that I am doing in 2012 is Move More, Eat Well 2012 by Cathy Zielske. It’s a motivational class with monthly prompts to keep you on track with your health and fitness goals. It is not an exercise/diet program. Registration is still open if you want to join in.

Note: I had originally planned on keeping all of this offline as it is very personal stuff. No one really likes to talk about their weight and fitness struggles. However I finally decided that if I’m really going to do this… for real… then I need a place to make myself accountable.

I thought I’d start this month by showing you my pre-class pages. Then in February I’ll reveal (with the horrid before shot!) the January prompt and how I coped with making changes, along with a progress update. I’ll keep these posts for the 10th of each month so that they appear regularly, to a schedule, and spaced out from the other monthly posts I have planned for 2012.

So here goes…

The Start – where we make a statement of intention for 2012. What we do if we succeed and what happens if we don’t.

If I succeed I am going to reward myself with 1 Sizzix die cut each month – since I got a Big Shot for Christmas. I’ve defined success as…

  • eating healthy with 1 treat per week
  • exercising on planned days each week
  • a loss of more than 2kgs per month

If I don’t succeed then I will start again and learn from my mistakes. I WILL NOT beat myself up. We also had to pick a recent photo we liked….mine is from early 2011.

the startFive Things – Here we had to list five things we do well. Honestly I struggled a bit here. Then we took a photo of our joggers. Mine are next to the rowing machine that I plan to use.

5 thingsSee you again for Move More Eat Well on February 10th! And please let me know in the comments below if you are also along for the MMEW ride.

Time to get moving…again

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to Naomi over at Under the Yardarm. You see, I was just sitting here thinking about how I need to get back into my exercise routine. It’s been what, about a month now? Woops! And I was sitting here making excuses. ‘I feel like crap.’ ‘I don’t want to do it today.’ ‘Maybe I’ll start tomorrow, or better still, next week’

Then I saw Naomi’s tweet….and read her blog….and thought ‘No, I have to start this today!’ Is it really only 194 days until the Mother’s Day Classic?

The Plan

I have a plan already set up in my Home Routines app that I’ve been looking at guiltily every day. Today I’m going to start earning those stars. My workout routine, which has changed a bit since the F word posts, goes like this…

Monday – Treadmill C25K

Tuesday – Gym, Cardio

Wednesday – Gym, Weights

Thursday – Treadmill C25K

Friday – rest day

Saturday – Treadmill C25K

Sunday – Zumba!

Yesterday I didn’t do the C25K, but I did 40 minutes of walking, so it’s not all bad.

Today I have packed my bag and I WILL be heading to the gym after work. After all, apart from the MDC I have another goal. I would like to drop a few more kgs before Christmas….here’s hoping. EDIT: ok I know I said I will be going to the gym today but I’ve just looked around at all the things I need to do tonight. But I’m not giving up completely. I’ve worked out how I can have some things happening while I do Monday’s C25K that I missed instead. I hope you can forgive me.

Health & Nutrition and Body Image

Earlier this year I attended the Body Image Revolution hosted by Sandra Kumskov. I was fortunate to listen to some truly amazing women discuss all aspects of having a healthy body image… no matter what your size. It started me on the path of not only healthy eating (with Changing Habits) but being more comfortable with myself. It also opened my eyes to issues my daughter is facing and gave me the information needed to try to help her have a healthy body image too.

2 more events are coming up that I just have to tell you about!

1) Health and Nutrition Webinar

Cyndi O’Meara from Changing Habits will be interviewing Sandra Kumskov on Tuesday October 19 from 8pm (QLD)

“Here a just a few facts and some insight to what this Webinar will include:

• 1 in 5 females under the age of 20 years suffer from an eating disorder.
• 1 in 10 males suffer from an eating disorder.
• 80% of women have a disorder in their eating (fad diets, low fat diets, protein diets, etc etc)
• 90% of women want to change their body shape and looks.
• Dieting is beginning now at age 12 yrs!
• 20-30% of those with eating disorders will die!
• 40% of 9 year old females have been on a diet.
• There are recorded cases of 5 year olds with anorexia!
• After only 3 weeks of a calorie restricted diet, depression can occur and this then compounds the original problem. There is an epidemic of depression in today’s society…is there a connection?
• When we eat poor quality food, this places stress on the body which then impacts on the emotions and changes the way we view our bodies….thus creating a poor body image.”

You must register for this call. For further call details and registration:
