{Create} The MotherLOAD week 4 …the end

Big Picture ClassesOne of the classes I’m participating in at the moment is Lain Ehmann’s “The MotherLOAD” over at Big Picture Classes. We’ve been in class since 29th June undergoing basic training for our scrap marathon (a LayOut A Day for 26 days) which started on the 1st Sep. For this LOAD I am doing a mix of digital and traditional scrapbooking, depending on my mood and whether or not I’ve had the photo’s printed ;)

Week 1 can be found here, week 2 is here, and week 3 is here.

Now here are my last 5 layouts (apologies for blocked out photos but DH and Grace have requested their faces not be shown here) :

Day 22 – Thoughtful Thursday On this day we had to scrap about the endings in our life. My last few pages have been a bit of a downer so I decided today to scrap a happy time…. the end of 2010 – New Years Eve on Magnetic Island.
MotherLOAD 22Supplies:
Digi Template by Katie Pertiet – Capturing Layered Template
Digi Paper by Vinnie Pearce – Old Things Papers

Day 23 – Free-for-All Friday Today’s challenge was to capture your life in numbers. Ali’s kit “10 things right now” is perfect for this.
MotherLOAD 23Supplies:
Digi Template by Ali Edwards – 10 Things Layered Template
Digi Papers + Elements by Mindy Terasawa – Wonders Kit

Day 24 – Snack Saturday – Today we get to scrap whatever we want using our “snack bags” that we made up in basic training, but we also had to add lyrics or a song title to our page. I’m loving the Twilight soundtracks and one of my favorite (rather melancholic) songs is Possibility by Lykke Li. My snack bag had the chipboard heart, brads, flowers and the journal tag under the title. I was only going to write a line or two from the lyrics. Instead I ended up writing two verses. I guess this is why you should plan your journaling before you start writing!

Day 25 – Simple Sunday Instead of looking outside for inspiration today we had to look at ourselves, and our layouts, by scraplifting ourselves. I chose my layout from Day 5 (without the hobbydots!). The stamps are Ali Edwards “Family Is ” which my posty just delivered.

Banner by Sassafras Lass – Nerdy Bird Flag Banner
Sticker by Sassafras Lass – Nerdy Bird Sweet Treats
Rubon Stitches
Ink by Tim Holtz – Tattered Rose Distress Ink, and by American Crafts – Charcoal
Alpha stamp by Ali Edwards – Family Is

Day 26 – Mother May I Monday We didn’t have to ask for permission on our last day. As Lain said “You’re in charge. Go wild. Today is all about YOU. You are the boss of your scrapbook page, not just on “Mother May I Monday,” but EVERY day. Go forth and scrap.

MotherLOAD 26Supplies:

Patterned Paper by Basic Grey – Green at Heart, Prima Marketing – Madeline

So that’s it. Another LOAD done. 26 more layouts completed.

Now I might go and paint something.

Week 1 can be found here. Week 2 is here.

Now here are my next 7 layouts (apologies for blocked out photos but DH and Grace have requested their faces not be shown here) :

Day 15 – Thoughtful Thursday On this day we had to scrap the tough stuff. My weight has always been an issue with me. Growing up I was always called thunder thighs and made feel fat. Looking back at photos I don’t see that I was that fat. In this photo I was “busted snacking from the fridge”. I think it was a strawberry or cherry….so unhealthy! Now however it’s a different story and I have fulfilled my family’s prophecy. Now I do have Thunder Thighs.
MotherLOAD 15Supplies:
Kraft Cardstock
Die-cut paper by My Minds Eye – Stella & Rose Delightful
Patterned Paper by Simple Stories – Elementary
Journal Tag – Prima packaging
Alpha by Sassafras Lass – Glittered Kelly Green
Ribbon
Owl Sticker
Stickles – Diamond

Day 16 – Free-for-All Friday Apparently there was an unwritten law that you can’t scrap the same photo twice. (Being relatively new to scrapping I’ve never obeyed this rule). The challenge for day 16 was to scrap a picture you’ve used before. I used the centre photo for my orange page in Nic Howard’s BPC class “Colour! or is it Color”. I’m glad I had doubles printed all those years ago.
MotherLOAD 16Supplies:
White Cardstock
Patterned Paper by Sassafras Lass – Count Me In
Alphas by Sassafras Lass – Yellow Paper
Banner Sticker by Sassafras Lass – Count Me In
Stickers by Sassafras Lass – Count Me In

Brads

Day 17 – Snack Saturday – Today we get to scrap whatever we want using our “snack bags” that we made up in basic training. In my bag I had this chipboard flourish, journal tag and brads. This page is about a time Grace and I had to travel together to go to a wedding without DH, and how we stuck together through all the family tensions,

MotherLOAD 18Supplies:
Colored Cardstock
Patterned Paper by American Crafts – Spring
Alphas by Bo Bunny Press – Et Cetera
Flower by Sassafras Lass – Vintage Brooch

Day 19 – Mother May I Monday May I scrap out of chronological order? Of course you can….and as you can see I do it all the time. So this challenge was easy peasy! I have no rules when it comes to the order or quantity of pages. The only problem is remembering the story.

MotherLOAD 19Supplies:
White Cardstock
Patterned Paper by Sassafras Lass – Mix & Mend
Alpha by Sassafras Lass – Glittered Kelly Green
Flowers by Sassafras Lass – Entwined Blooms, Sassafras Lass – Paper Whimsies

Day 20 – Take a Picture Tuesday. The challenge for today was to scrap a photo showing “emotion” that we took during basic training. This photo was also used for my project 365.

MotherLOAD 20Supplies:
Digi Kit by Anna Aspnes – Art Play Pallette Find My Way

Day 21 – Way Back Wednesday. The challenge for day 21 was to use a photo shape other than square or rectangle. Scrapping was hard as it would have been my Dad’s 70th birthday and I was so emotional I decided to do a page for him. It ended up taking me over 3 hours – it’s still not 100% finished and I’m not happy with it. I will complete the journaling another day when I can.

MotherLOAD 21Supplies:
Patterned Paper by Sassafras Lass – Indie Girl
Alpha by Basic Grey – Marjolaine Collection
Journal Stickers and Banners by Sassafras Lass – Indie Girl

One more happy scrappy week to go!

Now here are my next 7 layouts (apologies for blocked out photos but DH and Grace have requested their faces not be shown here) :

Day 9 – Free-for-All Friday the challenge today was to use up our piles of scraps. I loved pulling out my box of scraps for this one! I hadn’t planned on scrapping this story but this was the perfect opportunity. It’s about the things DH and Grace used to get up to while I was at work….like running around the house stamping each other. (Don’t tell Grace I left her face in this one but it’s the only way you can see the stamps)

Day 12 – Mother May I Monday – Today we had to use a Sub-Par Photo. I had so many of thee to choose from, but the one below always cracks me up.
Journaling reads : “We loved taking photos of you when you were a baby. All those cute smiles, first solids, and you sleeping. Then we were lucky to capture these priceless shots – mid fall, looking like your milk had a little something extra in it. You always make us smile.”

You can find me here :)

Day 14 – Way Back Wednesday. Today’s challenge was to stamp on a scrapbook page. It’s funny that today’s challenge was about stamps as I rarely use them. Then the postman delivers a kit today which had these Sassafras Alphas in it! Did Lain know something? Spooky!
